After the Rain

This was a morning I enjoyed very much a couple of weeks back now. It was in the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness Area of Upper MI and right along Lake Superior. While shooting the sunrise earlier a hard rain really started coming down. After getting soaked and while heading back to my van I fell on the rocks and got a little scratched up but my camera gear was all ok. I really like shooting in the woods after a rain so I headed for the Little Carp River to see what I could find. This picture is a small off shoot of the river after that early morning rain.
5D3, 24-105L @45mm, iso 100, f/16, 13 sec exposure with polarizer. I included a larger version as well.

Very nice, Nick. I really like the soft green glow in the trees and the subtle color reflecting in the stream. I can't see anything I'd change in terms of processing; exposure is really nice. Glad you and your gear are ok!

I like the composition and perspective of this shot. I like the way the light is shining in the background and I like the colors reflected in the water.

Gorgeous Nick, has such a lush look to it, the green reflections on the wet rocks, and in the stream really makes this very appealing in my opinion. I also like the fallen tree across the stream. Looks like a beautiful place to photograph.

The larger version shows excellent detail throughout, Nick. Contrary to the previous image with the downed tree being a bit debatable this downer seems to add a point of interest and even a point of focus too. Some very lush greenery on display here also.

The large version is really something to look at. Beautiful capture Nick. The darkness of the rocks and water contrast so nicely with the greenery. Exposure and color management looks flawless. Nice work!

Thanks for all of your nice comments on this one so far. There has been enough rain in this area to make everything really green and I knew after the rain it should have a wonderfully lush look and especially if I got a little light to work with. Thanks, Nick

First of all I like the composition and the rich vibrant color. The reflected green in the water adds a unique element to this. Maybe it's just me but the highlights in the greens look a bit to hot - especially in the foreground on the left as there seems to be a loss of detail. It may also just be due to compression. That aside, this is an excellent image!!

Nancy Lea, Peter, Morris and Brian,...Thanks much for your thoughts on this.
Brian, I see what you mean about the highlights in the green and especially in the leaves of the lower left corner. That seems to be more in this web version compared to the larger file. I did just do a print and it looks good there. I appreciate your thoughts and it made me take a good look. Nick

Lovely intimate look at this river. The greens glow so nicely and I especially like the mix of green reflections and red rocks showing through the creek bed. Sure glad that both you and camera survived the fall.
