Just a simple portrait of the BES Flower -> always liked painterly background. Looks like I got one here. Completely blurred backgrounds can be boring  . The background is just a lot of tall grass.

ND300s, AFD200mm F/4 Micronikkor @ F/11, 1/100 Sec, ISO400 and Tripod on an overcast day.

Please see the LARGE VERSION

Thanks for your kind comments on Lone Geranium and let me know what you think of this one.

Nice, Ram. A lovely subject and really complementary colors make this so easy to look at. DOF is just about right and lots of detail. What's not to like?

The details are exquisite, Ram. The large version really shows this off. Wonderful background and perfect colors as well.
Excellent!

Ram: Classic shot and one of the best BES images I've seen in a while. A standard setter IMO. >=))> :toast: :toast:

Beautiful shot Ram, and I agree with you about backgrounds, how one with some detail is preferable to completely blurred sometimes. The bg makes this one.

Beautiful BES portrait! The bg is perfect with the painterly look and hint of tall grass detail. I agree with you that sometimes I like to see some detail, such as your bg in this image, rather than a completely blurred bg.

Yes, Ram, I too love the soft background. In the larger view I have appreciated the very well realized center of the flower, all black, that is not easy to photograph in the BES.
Take care.
