Red Fox

Was at Bombay Hook National Wildlife Preserve which is mostly known for birds when this mother fox ran through the field and caught a very large mole. Taken with Canon 7D, 100-400 IS lens.

She has a very nice coat/bushy tail and you captured her out in the open, head up and alert expression I might add!!! A real nice treat for you to have this opportunity when trying for birds. Looks like the exact type of habitat I see them hunting in here in my neck of the woods as well. Not sure what your shutter speed was, but the facial area here is maybe a little soft Patricia, slight motion blur? Rest looks great!

Patricia it is really nice when something unexpected turns up one of the joys of nature photography. The Fox looks good but I do think if you had a little more space on the left for the Fox to look into would have been icing on the cake, very nice indeed.
Keith.
