Folks,

I was away for a month doing some personal errands, and here is one that I want to start with. A garden in bloom with marigolds, and crottons and cocks comb. And this little fellow catching up with the sun in the morning.

7D, 70-200 with Extn tubes,

Thanks NPN for your support

Beautiful colors and comp! A well crafted image. My only nit is that to me the plant contrast up the stem seems a bit strong compared to that amazing soft background.

I like the combination of colours of the BG and the subject.
Very nice shot.

Cool, fun image, Balan, and one that needs to be seen large to appreciate. I like the bg, and the way the insect is dwarfed by the bg. As an alternative image (not a better one), this would be quite good with less bg as well (e.g., cropped to a vertical 4x5 ratio). :wavey:

Absolutely delightful, Balan, justifying the excellent title ! The colours of the soft bg are gorgeous, and the pose of the ? greenfly on top of the bending flower immediately hits the eye. I might just like this cropped a bit all round, but lovely as is.

Hi Balan, the colors 8f the background are fantastic. The Praying Mantis cannot be at a better position. One improvement that would help is to make this vertical to avoid the impact from too much of negative space.

Wow, that's one eye-popping background! In addition to the gorgeous colors and softness of the BG, I am really enjoying the overall balance between the background and the size of the flower and mantis. The posture of the mantis flows nicely with the arc of the plant, and there is certainly enough subject detail to highlight this while conveying the felling of the size of the creature in relation to it's vast environment. I understand those comments about a vertical comp, but when I block out the sides, I find I actually like it better as posted. :toast:

Balan,
Great colors and over-all composition. The pose of the Mantis is outstanding.

I really like the colours here.

I think I had a tie-dyed T-shirt just like this in the late 60's.

Wow, super colours, Balan! I definitely wouldn't crop any of the BG as it makes the picture, although I can't help thinking if it wouldn't have looked even better with a bit more space on the left and then less on the right - but maybe that wasn't possible in the circumstances. Anyways, great shot! :toast:

Stunning colors and I love how you left all that space around to really appreciate it without loosing the subject. Beautiful!
