Queen Anne's Portrait

A simple B&W portrait of a Queen Anne's Lace flower in a field near my home in Western Oregon. I've been doing a lot of macro work with my 300mm f/4 recently, and I like here how the grass just behind the flower adds some texture to the image. Any C&C appreciated.

Canon 5d Mark ii, 300mm f/4 lens, 1/150 sec at f/4, gitzo tripod

Thomas - Beautifully done. I like the bright patch there the bloom ends. The shot may need a 1 pixel black outline - to prevent merge with the white background of the gallery.

I sure like the sweeping arc of the stem and the details in the flower head. The texture in the lower parts is a nice, painterly addition. It might be worth toning down the background above the head just a bit (or maybe a touch of edge burning), it looks blown to me.

An artistic placement of the flower against the brighter spot in the background. Well done.
