Woody in Winter Garb

Not a lot of wildlife at the local refuge with very low water levels from summer. I did spot this Wood Duck drake in his winter garb after going through an eclipse molt. He has the advantage of not being so flashy and better camouflage for this half of the year. The under chin saddle is visible as well as subdued bill colors.

One element that makes this image a little different is that algae on his bill and breast. :toast:

If it's raining down there like it is here, the water levels should be rising quickly, Craig. Nice portrait, with excellent detail.
