Loggerhead Shrike

This juvenile was buried in the sagebrush so I tried for a flight shot. A cleaner lower background would have been nice but it just didn't happen...

7D, 1/3200, f/5.6, ISO 500, 500 f/4, shot from pickup window on 7/5/13, cropped to 50% of original image, slight exposure adjustment, sharpened bird, no additional processing or adjustments, natural light, not baited, set up or called in

Nice dof and a shutter speed that froze the wings, well done Ron. Great anticipation, don't mind the lower background at all.

Terrific. This action pose really shows off the wings to advantage.

I don't see anything wrong with this photo, the habitat helps tell the story in my opinion. Awesome flight action photo, the wing spread is perfect and the details crisp.

Sweet One Ron!!!

Ron,

This looks fine to me, looking at the larger image I wonder if a little NR on the BG would improve it slightly

Superb, Ron. The bird pops off the background, and the wing extension is excellent.

Killer pose. Degree of difficulty to pull this off is very high. Gotta love that background with the nice tones. Yes a slightly lower position might have been nice, but likely impossible. Very nice image.

I love the colors here, and I actually really like the lower background. Really great shot with the wings as they are.
