This is the seed head of Blue Grama grass, Bouteloua gracilis, glowing in some late afternoon sun. These little guys lurk in our Montana yard and are about 6 inches tall (1/2 to 1/3 as tall as the dominant grasses) with each of the seed heads being less than an inch long. (5D3, 100mm macro L, 1/30s, f/14, iso 200, tripod)

Well seen and captured Mark,
The lighting and BG compliment the Blue Grama very well and the spider silk adds a nice touch to the composition.
Well Done . . .

Mark, this would be stunning in black & white. Love the lighting and the interaction of the two stalks.

Mark - Wonderful curves and interaction between the seed heads. The light is working in your favour too.

The dark patch at the top bothers me a little bit - may be crop some to reduce its area or clone in some color

Just beautiful, Mark ! Lovely light ( not least on that thin loose strand ) and perfect composition on a finely graded bg. You've made a simple grass seem like a sculptural form

Excellent use of the light and form, Mark, to achieve an interesting and artistic image of the grass. Very well done.

Terrific Zen simplicity and lighting. Not sure about the dark band at the top. Might be worth trying a crop there.
