Beach textures

While taking a walk on the beach this summer, I was fascinated by the textural designs of the blown sand and the shadows from the snow fence playing across the sand.

Canon 60D. 18mm at f/14 for 1/320 sec. ISO 640. Handheld, natural lighting.

This is a pleasant composition. To completely emphasize the textures and forms, I'd suggest cropping the top down to just below the top of the fence on the right edge. This makes a very nice abstract.

This is a classic view and is very inviting to go enjoy the beach. The combinations of vertical, wavy horizontal lines of sand a shadow and fence are very interesting and well balanced. Very nice Carolyn.

 An interesting view with the zig-zag fence line. Both the sand and the fence work as you mention for the theme overall. After viewing this a few times now I think Jim is on to a good idea with an abstract take on the scene too. Scrolling up and down allows a nice look to see what his thought was and it makes a really different look and feel. Just another thought on the image.

The shadow juxtaposition between the mostly horizontal sand ripples and the vertical fence works wonderfully here, Carolyn. I too played with Jim's suggested crop and agree that it makes for a fine abstract, but I also really like the depth in the posted version and the wonderful sky with it's collection of fair weather cumulus clouds.

Wonderful patterns and shadows in this one Carolyn. I like how the fence recedes into the distance and inclusion of the blue sky and clouds adds interest.

Really like this Caroyln!
Interesting comp with the fence leading your eye up through the frame, great sky.
I especially like the patterns/textures FG created by the wind, and that cityscape off in the distance adds nicely.
Well done! :toast:
