Skillet Creek 2

This is another shot I made last Friday morning along Skillet Creek at Pewits Nest State Natural Area near Baraboo, WI. My last post was just above where this gorge starts and you wouldn't think this shot was only about 50 yards from there. This is really an interesting area and I very much enjoyed shooting here. I have been there before but never posted any of my images from the area. While the fall colors are very nice I think I will head back again tomorrow. It is only about 40 miles from where I live. Thanks for looking! Please view the larger version. 5D3, 24-105 @24mm, iso 100, 10 sec with cpl.

Sweet, love the warm tones and density of leaves here. I think I'd be there tomorrow too!

Really nice Nick I like the composition with the leaf frame. Perhaps the yellow at the back of the pool is just a bit to eyecatching and dominates so much that it starts to pull you away from the pool and leaves where I think I would prefer to linger. You could try desaturating this bit a little.

I like this one a lot, Nick. I especially like the depth to the back area of the scene, just seems to pull you right in. A wonderful autumn scene well captured from this POV.

The leaves scattered throughout the frame are delightful Nick. I also like the subtle water motion as it pulls the viewer through the frame. Wonderful autumn scene.

Liquid gold! This is a wonderfully warm and welcoming scene. Looking at it, I realized that images of water flowing away from the viewer are definitely in the minority. This one is spectacular

Gorgeous autumn scene Nick, it seems like this place is treating you very well, I know I'd be there tomorrow and every chance I got. Really like the tea stained water and motion of the leaves. You captured the Fall season beautifully.

That is a drastic change in a short space, Nick. This view is just outstanding. Excellent depth in your comp and it has your deft touch in pp to bring out the color and light. Very well done!

Thanks for all of your comments on this. It really is a great place and it was wonderful being there for awhile, and especially this time of year with the fall color and all the leaves covering the ground and water. I look forward to going back soon. Thanks again, Nick

This is glorious, Nick. Love the overall gold color, the stationary leaves in most of the view, the white of the falls, and the sneaky exit of color and water in the back. Very well done!

You really nailed this one.
The swirling leaves, the comp and the SS are perfect.
I could also see this as a pano with some off the top.

What a fantastic-looking place, and it looks like you are familiar enough with it to find the best spots.
I like everything about this -- even the long exposure, which I usually find unnatural. I hope you enjoy your re-visit!
