In addition to the 22 waterfalls located in the park there are numerous photogenic cascades as well. This particular one required standing in the water, taking care not to slip on the rock and lastly, waiting on what seemed like an endless parade of people walking by on the trail. They seemed to be spaced out just enough so that when one was just about out of the frame another would enter.
So I guess the moral to this story is to get up earlier or visit on a weekday.
As always thanks for taking a look and leaving a comment or suggestion.

21 commentsWith camera firmly mounted on your tripod, take a picture with the person in camera view, then when the person walks by a little, take another picture. Once home, on the computer, in PS, open both images as layers in the same file - Edit>Auto Align, add a white mask to the top layer, then, with 100% black, paint over the person. Voila, the person is completely gone, while being replaced with the exact detail, without the person.
This technique works perfectly anywhere you have moving people (or cars) you don't want in your shot. If they're standing still it will still work, but you'll have to wait until they move before making the second shot. Sometimes you may have to take several shots, depending on how crowded it is. Try it next time, or go back to Ricketts Glen and try it again just for the heck of it.

Beautiful image .Nice comp. color and water slow motion
Michael: Thanks for the tip. I will have to try it out the next time.
Johan: I started out on the right, but the image didn't resonate as well with me. I am not sure why because I see what you mean.

On a calibrated monitor the image looks rendered especially warm. Is that on purpose? I could see it cooler too.
Lastly, your existing comp is perfect for what you are trying to convey. However, I would love to see a comp that included everything already shown here but with more trees. Maybe taking a step or two back, camera stays close to the rushing water and, and shoot vertical. You may already have that comp, or quite possibly sky may begin to show...just a thought.
