Out to Sea

I've never been to a single beach along the entire Washington Coast that changes so dramatically from year to year, month to month, and day to day. Ruby Beach is a new experience every time I visit and different opportunities always present themselves. This photo was taken when the stream had moved to the far North end of the beach and wrapped around the sea stacks where the cave is located. It's not obvious, but I had to perform some serious yoga-style moves to get the camera into this position and view the LCD screen which was pressed right up against a large stack of rocks. My legs cramped for hours after this shot.

My Canon 6D I have now would have been awesome with the wifi and using my iPhone to compose the photo.

Canon 5d2
Canon 16-35L II

Thanks for looking and giving feedback! :wavey:

Love the comp and color. I've only been to Ruby once, but need to return. Good detail on the rock faces.

This scene is great because it has well balanced comp, gorgeous light, and a feeling of I really want to be there Johan. I love the color you captured in the water very much.

Very nice comp, I might try to bring up the large rock a bit.
I think the water color has a bit of purple in it, I think a bit more bluish hue would look nice.

Johan,

This looks very weird, I am no landscape expert but wonder if cropping from the bottom eliminating most of the oof water might improve the image.

Thanks for looking and giving feedback!

The water in the foreground isn't out of focus, it is just blurred due to the long exposure.

I would agree this one looks a bit weird with the jelly like textures in the water and purplish rather than magenta areas. I think this might be greatly improved my darkening the rather bright water somewhat.

Nice composition. Love the silky looking water from the long exposure. How long was the exposure?
