First Sighting?

This is a Slaty Egret, a fairly rare bird usually only found in Botswana. This was taken on my friends private concession in Hwange National Park, nobody we know has seen one of these in this area before. Unfortunately it was a far off and the ground was very wet we got as close as we could without sinking

That's an excellent result for documentation purposes, and not bad just as a nature photo on its own. Image quality looks good as presented. I don't think stopping down would have improved this in any way.

Good look at this bird. Nice color and details. I do find the BG a bit busy and sort of distracting, but realize not much you could have done about it. Maybe a tighter crop to reduce the amount of BG. Thanks for sharing.

Nice one Ken, like the ruffled feathers. I've got some slides of them from Kazangula taken in 1996 just before we came home.
