Our English trees generally have quite muted autumn colours. These are from an exotic nyssa and a Chinese dogwood, which we see in parks and gardens only. I've shot them simply as they fell.

The colors don't jump off the screen, Ian, but the leaves have lovely tones and are quite natural looking in color and arrangement. The light is a little strong but well controlled. You could burn the large leaf far right, the smaller bright yellow leaf LRC, and the small leaf in the URC.

Nice job of showing the natural beauty of these fallen leaves. Beautiful colors. I like the water drops.

Your exotic Nyssa looks like our Nyssa sylvatica ((black gum, black tupelo). However, there are 12 accepted Nyssa varieties worldwide, and 45 unaccepted. You wouldn't happen to know the species name of this one, would you? It certainly colors like black gum here across the pond. Nice random array of leaves. Did these fall after the big storm y'all had several days ago?

Phil : thanks for the comment and queries. According to the label hanging from the tree it is indeed your nyssa sylvatica,

We missed the storm in Manchester - too far north - this is just the gradual fall from a very lovely tree. I've been trying to photograph the tree itself for some days now but it's in a garden somewhat crowded with exotics planted many years ago now. May have perhaps one shot to post fairly soon.

Ian, I like the color palette and that red/yellow leaf in the center. The water drops add much interest. Great find and presentation.

Ian - I really like the assortment and few drops of dew/water. The three leaves with deep red coloration spice up the frame for me.

Nice Autumnal feel to this.

Very nice. the light is fabulous and the glowing color of the brighter leaves is beautifully supported by their more somber neighbors. Excellent abstract

Ian

This is fabulous. The colour and lighting here are just perfect.

I am currently in London and most of the trees have lost their leaves in the recent storm. :frown:
