Kansas Fall Flora

by Larry Fischer

Gallery: FloraPosted November 6, 201362 views5 comments
Taken near a pond on my land as an approaching storm was pending.
Sky exposure was difficult due to brightness and danger of 'blowout'.
Nikon D700
Nikkor 14-24 @ 14mm
1/40 sec
aperture priority
f/11
Constructive criticism sought.

Larry - Classic Autumn shot with solid use of the colored foliage as the foreground element. I like the "V" formed by the tree trunks.

Just thinking if moving a bit more to the right would have given a slightly better perspective of the scene with more of that stream showing.

Lovely combination of colours, Larry and a very dynamic perspective. There's a feeling almost of the wind blowing through the scene - and I rather like the unusual centring of the trunks which gives the eye a minor jolt as you look into the image.

I thought long about the V-placement. I thought I would step out of the traditional 1/3 rule and let the water do the rest.
Understand your comment. Thanks.

Interesting composition with the diagonal of the water behind the main subject. It still works as a leading line but gives the scene a touch of realism. Nicely done

Larry: Marvelous autumn scene and I like the comp. My solution to the sky would be to just crop it away about 75-80%.>=))>
