Ramona's Veil

Hello all,

Seeking your critique and criticism on this image. It's been a labor of love and hate. Hard to explain. I love this subject, it's a beautiful place. Ramona Falls, Oregon. But I've had a really hard time settling on a composition I like of the many that I shot. After much deliberating, I've thus far settled on this one. I'm just looking for general impressions on everything. The comp, the processing, your taste. Do you like it? Is it meh? Tell me either way.

Thank you!

Here is a LARGE version.

It's real purty, Ted--but it does invite comparisons. Like this one for example:

http://www.marcadamus.com/photo.php?id=120&gallery=waterfall

Course it's not the same waterfall, but it points out some of the nits you can find in this shot--like the highlights being a tad strong, and the fact that the water isn't quite enough to balance the (less attractive) rock wall. But if i didnt have things to compare it too--i wouldn't be so picky! So, yeah, i like it.

I think it is a nice abstract.
I see nothing that is remotely like Ramona Falls. This could be anywhere.
I also have no idea where the rainbow comes from. Having been there numerous times this would not happen at that site.
Puzzling to me, but it is your vision.....

Uh Dan, you must not know Ramona falls as well as you think you do. This is indeed Ramona falls, I assure you. If you've never seem the rainbow effect there then you haven't visited it at the right time. It happens in the afternoon shortly before sunset. I don't know if it's only a certain time of year, but this is in august.

Thanks Stan, I know what you mean. Marc took me here himself. This would probably be better to visit in the spring to get more water flow.

I like it Ted! I think it looks really cool. It is fun to explore through your larger version.

Nice abstract Ted with a lot of interesting colors and shapes to explore. I do find the dark bars coming down a little distracting but that's only me. Great job on this.

This is a beauty, Ted. I like the lack of scale here and that rainbow certainly cranks this up another notch.

I think Stan is trying to hold you to a pretty high standard here. Not many of us can compete with him on images from some place he has visited. But, like him, I did immediately think of Marc's image from there. I think your shot is different enough to stand on it's on as a beautiful shot, and maybe not everyone has seen Marc's image. And, if I ever get the chance to visit this place, I guarantee I will try to get my own version.
