John, you have been working hard on this image! I definitely prefer this one to your original posting. Good comp, nice environmental context, nice focus on the caribou, and more realistic colors. An additional thought might be to try to darken the shadows in the red foreground just a bit to help add some more depth. . .that is, IF you want to do more tinkering. Great keepsake photo of a special experience.

Oh yeah, I don't know if it's the lighting, exposure or the scan, but this image is much better than the previous shot with the "head-down" pose. I think the background in this image is also better for showing the fascinating fall colors of the plants.
