Reflections of Autumn

I have doubts about this ...
Does it somehow satisfies your gaze?

Very unusual; I like what you have done here, Nuno. The diagonals work very well with the splash of autumn color.

All it needs is a crop. My philosophy with abstracts is: keep cropping until you can crop no more. Here, i think the grass is unecessary--the cool part here is the reflection, and the leaves are supporting players. So id crop so that the left and bottom sides line up with the beginning of the leaves. BTW--im sending you an email sometime in the next 24 hours

Very well put together. I like the symbolic mystery of the reflection of the tree. I disagree with Stan, but then who doesn't? I like the comp as is. Very nicely done.

There's something of the mystery of the universe in this. A very alluring composition.

Stan doesn't disagree with Stan.
Yes you do!
I do not!
Let's just call it a draw and go have a beer...

I think Nancy has discovered something about why I like to look at this. It has an element of mystery contained in the reflection, possibly because the fine particles on the water look like stars. However, at the same time it also places us right here, grounded on earth. I have been showing reflection images to people lately (not on NPN) and I have found that most people like those that are "grounded" like this one, in effect showing the mirror in addition to what is reflected. (This may not hold true with true abstracts. After all, reflections are often quite familiar and identifiable despite being unconventional views.) Having said that, simplifying any image -- in this case showing the mirror but not the whole room -- usually improves it. In short, I kind of agree with Stan in this case. The leaves and the fine debris on the water are enough to ground it well. I think the grass -- especially on the bottom -- is more "ground" than we we need in this case. And the brighter grasses on the left are a little too interesting, drawing my mind to the land instead of the mystery of the reflection. Oh no! I guess that means I agree with Stan more than I thought. (That's a little disturbing. )

I think the grass is too green for the reflection. My suggestion would be to darken or vignette the grass, but keep the lovely curve of the leaves intact. The reflection is really interesting in that, after looking at the leaves...your eye suddenly drops down into the depths of the reflection. Very cool to trick the eye like this. If you took the leaves away, your eye would not see the illusion. It would simply see a reflection.
