"Rapids & Roots on the Presque Isle River in BW #1"
Presque Isle River flow at the Porcupine Mountains State Park, Upper Michigan.

I've started photographing some beauty and fashion work, so landscape has been playing second fiddle.

Hi Matt, I like your b&w conversion and also the dark mood this has. The tree roots are really interesting and the falls look great in the background. I think I know this spot and was there in October, but I just couldn't make a comp work like this one does.

The large version has an intensity that feels almost as if this were a pen and ink drawing. Beautifully composed and realized. I'll bet this would make an amazing rag paper print.

Excellent! Plenty of black/white tones make this hugely successful in my eyes. The 'development' itself is suited perfectly for this image. Excellent capture and processing!
Surely better than the music you listened to while 'developing' the image!

Matt, this is a great composition and a bold image. I especially like how the contrast between the narrow streams of water near the foreground and the near gush of water just behind. Well done.

This picture makes me want to experiment with b&w soon.

Cool--works for me, Matt! And plus one for branching out with your photography--variety is a good thing.

Gripping! Lovely textures and tones. Perhaps a little more mid-range grays to mitigate the light tones with the immediate surroundings.. roots seem a tad too light… and the right side of the tree trunk on far right. Purely personal preference. Terrific composition.

Another example of your deft touch at pp to take a fairly ordinary scene and turn it into magic! Outstanding impact and drama, Matt. :toast:

Sweet!! This is a beautiful image. Great choice and conversion with the B&W. It really needs to be viewed large to appreciate all the subtly and detail.

This image is well seen, and the image has quite an impact that grabs your attention immediately. You can't help but want to stay in the scene and explore around Matt.
