Lunch Guest (WC 610)

At one of the more civilized primative campsites (it had a picnic table), I brushed aside some leaves where this wolf spider was sitting. He immediately popped right back up to the top of the leaves, seemingly to watch us eat. Since he was nice enough to pose, I pulled out my trusty pocket camera, set it on macro mode, and snapped this picture. My neighbor, Dave and I thought it was pretty cool to be sharing the spider's table for lunch, but when I showed this shot to my wife, she was grossed out. I guess what is gross is just a state of mind.

Nikon Coolpix AW110; 28 mm. equivalent in macro mode.

Nice storytelling image, Wayne. I like the way your neighbor is calmly stirring his drink in the background, but keeping a wary eye on this spider. Good use of the "fish picture" trick to put the spider up close to make it look large. But no matter how big or little the spider really was, I'm not sure how relaxed my lunch would be if I knew there was a spider sharing our table.

Nice one, Wayne. I first thought the spider was crawling on Nachos and that did gross me out.
Great angle for the shot and good story.

Another great, in your face shot Wayne. Perfect wolf's eye perspective on this one.

I echo Sanjay's comment and thought you found a spider in your tortilla chips. Not sure if I'd what to sit at the same table with this guy. Nice shot of a creepy subject.

I have a Coolpix 12mp pocket cam, but never remember to bring along when I'm out..
It's around here somewhere:wink:
