Baby Sun

'Baby Sun' because the complimentary colors of this background are from the Baby Sun Tickseed Coreopsis flower.

The Venusta orchard spider is one of a handful of orb weavers that spin their webs near the horizontal plane. Females almost always sit underneath, bottom side up (as seen here). I found this one in shade, these spiders do not like direct sunlight.

Spiders in the family Tetragnathidae are commonly called long-jawed spiders, or long-jawed orb weavers. Tetragnathidae is newly separated from the family Araneidae. Both families build orb webs, but they use different construction techniques..

The large version is absolutely superb Howard. Spiders are such fascinating creatures, I rarely get tired of looking at them.

Expertly composed and executed, Howard. I like the position of the spider in the URC power point vis-a-vis the oof flower in the LLC. Excellent dof managment for both subjects. The oof flower adds color but does not distract from the orb weaver. :toast:

Thanx Scott,
I can always count on you for feedback.
And I know you'll let me 'have it' when you see some room for improvement as well :wavey:

Excellent capture, Howard, and most beautifully composed. The oof flower adds a dynamic touch to an already vivid image.
