The Snake and The Larch

Kangamangus Highway, White Mountains, New Hampshire

I spotted a stand of larch trees while we were driving on the Kangamangus Highway and had to stop. I have seen these trees in only a few places like Cape Breton Highlands and now here in New Hampshire. Love their brillant color in autumn.

Thanks for having a look.

Love the curved trunk and the color. I might be tempted to warm things up quite a bit. Looks blueish to my eye. Very enjoyable fall color image!

Love the color in the larch and the greens of the evergreens, Eva. The curved tree lends a whimsical aspect to this forest scene. Outstanding work as always.

Eva, this is another example where the details seen in the larger version really make the image special. The warm colors in the larches and in the grasses contrast nicely with the stark tree trunks and the hint of dark sky. That twisted trunk adds a special interest. Very well seen.

Very nice capture of the color and form of these trees. I have been wanting to see larch trees in fall color ever since seeing Nick Lenz larch bonsai. Hopefully one day soon.

Beautiful scene Eva! I especially love the grasses; in fact, I wish you had composed less from the top and added more to the bottom. Looks so inviting and fun.

Beautiful shot of fall larches Eva and I really like the snakey tree also. Some really nice colors throughout the image also. Very nice job as always.

A very nice intimate study, Eva. I always wonder what causes a tree to grow like this. I found an aspen this fall growing the same way. The larches are a lovely accent to the scene as well.

Kind of a simple shot but with trees that have a lot of character. Cool.

Yep, that's an interesting looking snag there, Eva. I like the comp as is, however, I'd agree on the blue Harley is mentioning. Especially in the rear boulder. So, maybe a global warming or pull down of the blue might be in order. Regardless, a neat find along this highway area in NH.

The curved trunk adds a lot of interest and really makes the difference for me. There is a nice dynamic balance in your composition to me and I also appreciate to follow the diverse layers from bottom to top.
