I was at the local nature area yesterday and witnessed a lot of activity by the local black-tailed deer. Several does trying to find some peace from the rutting bucks by moving to secluded areas but mostly bucks and does involved in the breeding game. This guy came across an open area to a doe there. She very quickly squatted and peed for him. Good sign. He moved in and put his nose right into the spot then lifted his head and curled his upper lip up (as we see here) to determine if she was ready to breed. Alas, she apparently was not, as after a minute he left, presumably to find a doe ready to breed. This one came out pretty well I thought. Didn't have to do too much to it except tweak a few of the sliders to make for a better image. Comments and critiques are most welcomed and appreciated.

Good one Peter  This is always a good behavior to capture. Nice colors, I do think you have the sharpness to crop this as a vertical image, which I think would tighten the image up. Thanks for sharing.

He looks fine, but I feel the background branches compete for attention. Given that you have already cropped legs and much of body, I wonder if a tighter vertical would have been a bit stronger.
