Bighorn on Cliff

While in MT, I found this Bighorn Ram looking over a cliff. While I was photographing him a Magpie came. I don't particularly like the plant there, but decided not to clone it out. Cropped to landscape from portrait. Comments appreciated

Nice capture. The Magpie certainly adds some interest to the shot. The plant does not bother me.

Greetings Ralph. I agree with you that the plant isn't the ideal design element but neither would I clone it out, just a bit too much there and it is part of the habitat. The magpie is interesting from an ecological perspective. I do wish that the ram was slightly closer to the top of the ridge so we could see the legs a bit better. I like that you left a good amount of the rock in the frame, there are some nice colors in the lichen. Fair bit of noise in the blue sky for a modern day camera like the 1D1V ??? Sometimes aggressive sharpening does that.

Hello Ralph, this is a brilliant photo. What I like here is the excellent low angle viewpoint, superb contrast against blue sky, and the excellently balanced composition with the rocks crossing diagonally the frame; and of course the excellent Bighorn Ram pose and the bird sitting on its back. I don't mind to see the plant, it ads a natural feel to the scene. I do not believe that everything what is superb clean is perfect. The plant is a natural things which belongs to this scene. I hope that you agree and accept my honest comment.

I like it as it is, but wish the bighorn had his head turned just a bit more towards the camera. Very nice colors, and the magpie does add to the image. If you wanted to clone out the upper part of the plant IMHO it would not hurt and the lower section would sort of blend with the rocks. I also like the colors and details. Thanks for sharing.

I, too, was wishing for one more step to include back legs. Original vertical might emphasize the height/perspective of the rock.
