Nice peaceful pose Jack. I understand that this is typical behavior as these guys wait for the pack ice to form and allow them access to the seals - conserving energy. I like the composition you chose, but would prefer if that bit of foreground raised ice were to the side rather than directly in the path of the bear. Maybe it wasn't possible to move to your left? I haven't been able to use the (selective) sharpening abilities within Lightroom very well. I do think that you might be able to selectively sharpen the face just a little more to really draw the attention there. As I believe was mentioned in an earlier posting of a polar bear you made, the black nose is lacking in detail and some adjustment of the blacks might reveal said details?

Jack,
I basically agree with Gary's comments in particular the nose, still a very nice and peaceful image :toast: :toast:

Jack, IMO this is an excellent snapshot. I was attracted with your photo, because I've never seen Polar Bear in natural environment (Only in my dream). Your lower viewpoint is very good, exposure as well. I think it would be also very nice with less tight crop. More space on the top would be very nice, and some more space in front would be perfect. But I like it very much. Good work. :toast:
