Another image from our rather nasty sighting in Tiger Canyons, South Africa. For those wanting some sound here is a link to my wife's video.

Looks vicious Ken. I am amazed that such brightly colored animals blend into their surroundings so well.

It's hard to tell how serious this really was. Reminds me somehow of pro wrestling—a lot of muscle, snarling and athleticism, but no blood I could see in the video. The picture is good, but the video gives a more realistic context.

Ed,
Thanks for your comment :toast:
Phil,
I find your comment somewhat bewildering, "pro wrestling" is not to my mind a suitable anology.
If you doubt the severity of the fight perhaps this image of one of the participants after the bell might convince you

That is some crazy video Ken....and a cool image. I had no doubt of the seriousness of the fight (giant canine teeth sunk into the face and held in a death grip meets my criteria of serious) Being the top of the food chain predator has its downsides.

The video was hard to watch Ken, very brutal battle! I kept watching those hind claws expecting that they might tear open an abdomen. The action is slightly hidden in your photo as they are quite low down in the grass but it definitely gives us the idea. Amazing stuff, thanks for posting.

Gary,

Thanks very much, luckily my wifes video has a pretty wide zoom, unlike me, one is on the way :toast: :toast:

Nice photo Ken! The video is pretty amazing; what strikes me is how you can see that both tigers are clearly exhausted and injured yet they just keep at it. I certainly wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that temper tantrum.
