Snow Buntings

Canon 1D-X, 300mm f2.8, handheld
f5.6, 1/2500, ISO400

Among the first photos taken this spring with the 1D-X. I liked the white Buntings in the scraggly black spruce tree. I think this shot looks better in the larger version.

75% of full frame. Selective sharpening on birds.

C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

Have never seen a photo of Snow Buntings in a tree, always on the ground. Nice catch.

Nice array, Jim. Maybe a bit more dof would have been nice, but shooting up at them, there's no way to get all the birds in the same focal plane.

Jim this is a first for me Snow Buntings up a tree, those birds stand out well against the dark branches.

Neat to see these in a tree - my experience is seeing them on the beach or in a barren dirt lot in Bayonne, NJ.
