A sparrow-like bird of northern and eastern Australia. We saw several on the Atherton tablelands and Tyto wetlands. I liked the light and bg on this one, though I'm not sure about the composition.

7D, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, balanced on car window, f5.6, 1/2500, iso500, Av mode with no compensation. Processed in CS6 and cropped to 9.4MP. Taken October 27th at 6:34 am near Barking Owl B&B a few miles NE of Atherton.

Your comments and criticisms are appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

Dennis: Beautiful light. That really adds a nice mood. I'd be curious what this would look like with the bird lower in the frame. As posted, the wire feels too centered for my tastes.

Dennis I really like the BG and the light which adds real atmosphere and that's a cracking little bird, you mentioned composition perhaps a little bit off the bottom and a tad more at the top if you have it ,just my thoughts of course.
Sounds like you had a good time in the Atherton Tablelands I remember being there it's a great area and I hope you have more lovely images like this.

Wow what a cutie. Really nice warm colors and beautiful detail. The barbed wire adds to the image immensely but I agree with Keith, I would like to see him lower in the frame and perhaps a vertical crop. Seems like a tad to much canvas on the right. Lot's of possibilities with such a stunning subject. :toast:

Dennis, I like the repost much better. Feels much less static to me.

Almost looks like the wren I see here, even though I know it's a different species altogether..
Nice catch Dennis! :toast:

Very nice light, color and BG and a good pose from this little guy. It all works well for me. Looks like you had a very successful trip down under.

Dennis it's all a matter of taste of course but I do prefer the repost.
Looks like Queensland really did you proud with some smashing shots.
