The Fallen

This is a detail of a huge pine that had fallen many years ago at Happy Isles in Yosemite Valley. I liked the textures and the abstract nature of the broken log.

Very good close up Preston! I like the texture of the old wood and the colors. The redish tint adds a lot too.

Gorgeous Preston. I love the color gradation from the top to bottom of the log and the details are superb. Great eye to catch this.

It's probably my state of being that makes me have empathy with this fine detail study. The bitter cold around here has me feeling a little weathered, worn, and broken. :jump: I agree the color adds to the appeal here.

Very nice, Preston! Wonderful detail and textures and I love the what the reddish color adds to this. At first I though it was a close up of an old log cabin falling apart so even more interesting that it is a big old pine. A very cool find and you captured it so well.

This felt Preston/Harley as soon as it popped up. You both are really good at finding these exquisite details.

Photos like this make me wish the tree could talk, and tell its story. Amazing how we capture a moment in time; the remains of a long life. Great intimate Preston.

I like the comp and the tints. extraordinarily, it seems not to be tack sharp which somewhat surprises me. A tiny wobble on the tripod?

A somber nostalgic look to this. Like an old cabin in ruin with faded paint.
Well seen.....

You definitely have an eye for the intimate scenes Preston, and this is no exception, very nice detail and color, along with comp. Beautiful work.

Thanks for you comments, everyone.

Stuart: I'll look at the chrome again, and perhaps try to sharpen this up. I appreciate your comment.
