Owens Valley Afternoon

Thank you for your comments on my previously posted image. They are appreciated.

This image was made several years ago during an October trip to the Sierra East Side, and has recently been reworked. One lovely Autumn afternoon, I wandered a bit south of the upper part of the Alabama Hills and saw this nice view of Owens Valley looking East and South.

Real fine view of the Owens valley. Nicely composed and great feeling of depth. Well done.

Mmm! Astia works very well doesn't it? Lovely natural appearance light and shade.

Astia seems to have a cyan bias. At least on my monitor. But, Ian's right, the shadowed area looks perfectly natural. This "widescape" makes me yearn for the wide open spaces! Lovely image.

Nice view.
It is so subdued that a tad more contrast might look nice?

Thanks for the comments, all.

Morris: I already pulled cyan out of the sky, and in Firefox it looks pretty good. IE 11 shows the image with much more cyan.

Dan: I though about adding more contrast, but the version you see here is how I remember the scene. I appreciate the suggestion, though.

preston, great sense of place and space. at one moment, it has me wanting to run forever, clicking my heels and yallooping (technical term for shouting non-sensical things at the top of one's voice) at another, it has me wanting to sit on a rock, look, breathe and drink a cold beer. in other words, satisfying image!

You've got to love how the views just stretch forever here in the west. I'm enjoying how there are lots of little scenes in the big scene.

A nice view indeed. The cloud shadow on the distant mountains give a hint at what this would look like if put into motion. The constantly shifting play of light across the landscape is always fascinating. Simply sitting back and watching the show must have been reward enough. The photo is lagniappe.

BTW,,,,,,the colors look here look great to me. Very relaxing.

This is indeed a lovely view, Preston. I especially like all of the gentle colors from the creamy whites to the light blues and the mountains running off to forever in the distance.

Very nice comp and light here Preston. The dappled sunlight really adds a lot to the scene.
