A bison image from this fall. I focused on what I consider the essence of the bison - the eye and horn. This photo was taken at the National Bison Range in northwest Montana.

Comments, critique and suggestions always welcome.

Happy Shooting
Jack

Tech stuff: Canon5D III, Canon EF500mm/f4L IS, f/5.6, 1/500 sec, ISO-400, tripod. Cropped 40% from right, left and top. Processed with Lightroom.

The eye is often hard to see in most bison photos I see. Nice to see it and the light fur around it and the eyelashes. You captured a lot of detail in the fur that we often don't see. This is the closest portrait I've seen Like it. Even with the cropping you still had an image with lots of detail/sharpness. Wish that little piece of veg wasn't there but only a small distraction and it does depict reality.

Jack.
On my monitor the fur seems to have a slight magenta cast, if the IQ holds up I would suggest cropping even closer to the eye :toast:
