Great Egrets adorn a long dead oak in the marsh along Hwy 1. Early morning overcast provided soft light.

Very sweet, David. I love the assorted poses. You were either lucky or very patient to get all those eyes in sight. Excellent work.

Ornaments indeed! I especially like the "scratching" pose ornament to break up the pattern.

Great poses from each bird - tough to achieve.
Posed as if purposely positioned there!

One cool image David, like the ratio of land to sky too.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. I travel this way a couple of times a month and always look for birds perched in these dead trees. Its not uncommon to see birds but getting them in good light and not flying away when I approach is rare. For some reason these guys tolerated me and I shot quite a few frames to get one with all four giving eye contact and the one scratching.

I love this shot. I have endless egret shots including a whole album of one who is a regular visitor to my house and would come in the front door if I allowed him to do it. Had I taken this shot, it would be my personal favorite! Well done!

Very pleasing image with the soft light and the different poses of the birds which are perfectly spaced. I don't know how I feel about the tree being right in the middle though

love the composition here. I really like how the three left-facing egrets are distributed left/top/right balancing and anchoring the shot, while the other two add some interest with different poses.
