Clouds surrounding the peaks but letting in the sunlight between Thompson Pass and Marshall Pass on the Richardson Highway Just out of Valdez, Alaska). A beautiful but crisp day.

I'm really enjoying this, Gary. Brings back great memories from powder skiing days. Nothing like a fresh snowfall and clearing skies. Beautiful light on the peaks And dappling across the foreground. I'm shivering looking at this in flip flops and shorts and 70 degrees in Phoenix.

Certainly does look like a beautiful and crisp day. . .and very cold! I find it amusing that you, Gary Minish, posted this cold scene from Alaska. . .which was then viewed and commented on by another Gary (Gary Phillips) who was wearing shorts and flip flops in 70 degree weather in Phoenix! Just some of the joys of on-line photo sharing. . . Another fine winter scene from you, Gary. I'm sure this theme has been to your liking!

Carolyn; I am enjoying this challenge as I have literally hundreds of photos that fit the theme. The hardest part is picking which ones to post  A lot of people visit Alaska in the summer but very few stick around to see how beautiful it can be in the winter. Only Skiers and snowboarders (such as Gary Phillips) frequently see and appreciate the beauty of the mountains and snow here during this part of the year so I enjoy the opportunity to share what I see 8 months of the year with lots of others that aren't as fortunate. Thank you for the critiques and comments!

Clouds and mountains are always a good mix, especially when you have some sun highlighting the peaks. The whole composition has a nice balance to it, between the land, mountains, and sky. Especially like the visual lines, beginning at the bottom center of the frame and eventually leading up to the mountains on the left. Only thing I would like to see are some foreground elements, like rocks or grasses, but then the comp probably wouldn't have been the same.
