Thompson Pass after a snow storm. It was clearing up but the entire valley was filled with fog. As the fog started breaking up the sun was able to break through to parts of the mountains, highlighting parts at a time.

Sony DSC-R1, ISO-160, f8.0, 1/640

Love the look of mountain peaks when they are partially obscured by either clouds, fog or snow. This one is particularly pleasing Gary, I like the way the sun has lit up exactly the area with swirls and ridges. Very cool

Gary, this is neat with the strong diagonal of sunlit drifts and the mountains fading into the clouds. Fascinating how it's both inviting and forbidding at the same time.

The thumbnail does not do this unique image justice! I really like the abstractness of this image when viewed larger. The play of lighting across the barely visible mountain gives a real ethereal feel to this image, and the textures and contrasts visible in the diagonal comp are fascinating to view. Great capture, Gary!
