WC 616 Havoc

I take 1000's of photos per year, but I rarely take pictures of my pets. They are a challenge because they follow me around closely and they never present themselves as dogs doing their own thing. My wife stirs the pot by giving them food, so the photo op ends in utter chaos. I am pleased with this shot as it shows my good buddy Havoc checking me out from a distance. His focus is intense and the soft lighting and contrast helps sell the shot. I used My K5IIs (iso 800, autofocus set to continuous 1/500th sec, Tamron 90mm macro set at f8. Levels and brightness were tweaked in CS5 to lighten the background and pull detail from the shadows and I sharpened with Topaz Detail. Thank you for checking out my photo.................Jim

Very nice Jim. Great pose and expression. The color of the dogs coat and the snow look natural. What doesn't is a cyan fringe where the coat meets the snow. Wonder if by using the sponge tool in PS you could de-sat that blue tone? Great looking dog!

You captured a stunning portrait here of your ever-present buddy, Jim! I really like the way he stands out in marked contrast to the background of snow. Great details on the dog and good job on processing the extreme in contrasts. He really did pose so nicely for you at that particular moment. . .but the look he is giving you looks like he is ready to pounce on you any second to get some attention.

Nice looking dog, and good handling of the exposure and processing. Given the right light, snow makes a wonderful reflector, and you used it well.
