Nice subject; good exposure. A good example of using limited DOF to control the background.

Well done on this HH shot Sandy,
The DOF, details, color and framing are all first rate,
according to news reports, we may be getting a few Snowy Owls in Georgia for the first time in a long time this winter.

I love being able to see the whole bird - that is something I have struggled with this year despite their abundance. The perch is really nice too - the background seems a touch noisy which is surprising for ISO 400 on the D300s but perhaps it's just the size of the image or something else. Nice capture

I like this one sandy.
Maybe some noise work and a verticalcrop maybe ?

Sandy, I like the bird and perch, but the bg looks really weird to me--not sure if is due to noise/crop issues or other processing.

Sandy, I remember that you were eager to see them. I'm glad you were able to make it up to Ocean Shores and get some shots. I like the soft, textured background in this shot.

Wonderful shot of this amazing bird. My only suggestion would be maybe a vertical crop to emphasize the owl with less background but a fine shot either way.

Nice one, Sandy. I like the sliver of sun in the bottom of the right eye. However, posting a Washington image and rooting for the Niners is rather sacrilegious, don't you think

Dennis - HAHA!
Now the Niners are playing Seattle next weekend for the chance to go to the Superbowl!
California vs Washington!
I think I'll just root for a good and relatively injury-free game!

I think the noisy appearance may be if it is cropped a lot and then the noise should be more visible due to the sensor being not quite as good in performance as a larger one.
Lovely shot and I don't mind the horizontal format. Perhaps with the bird a little off center would work better?

I like the idea of a vertical crop here, also. Nice bird and details on the bird...nice to get one of these! Sharon
