I agree about the tip of the bill, but otherwise the composition works for me. I'd do a bit more highlight recovery in raw conversion to see if I could get more texture out of the throat.

I like the obscured feel and of course species and techs are great! Only thing is that I seem to be missing the virtual legs and underparts. That said, which it was mine  , Cheers, Hans

Great light hitting that red eye and the isolation here is beautiful

I love those fall colors surrounding the bird, Scott, and am not bothered by the bill tip being covered since the eye and most of the head is clear. I like the comp overall but might try a bit more off the top to slightly reduce the branches and thereby emphasize the colors even more. on the other hand, the larger version is not quite as detailed as I might expect so perhaps it's enough cropping already?

Gorgeous light, Scott, and I love these peek-a-boo shots. Superb job on the focus.

This one is all about that gorgeous red eye. I like the setting and the virtual frame of the yellow leaves - I could only wish for the tip of the beak - sweet shot Scott.

I like this overall. If it were mine, I would lose some canvass from the top and add it to the bottom. I would also desaturate the yellow leaves a bit. They seem to overwhelm the image a bit. Love that eye.

Very nice image, Scott! Beautiful colors. I like how the yellow leaves are framing the Heron.

Fully agree with your assessment. The setting is gorgeous, and I like the bird all tucked in there. Sharon
