Infrared tree

I converted an old DSLR to an infrared camera by replacing the "hot mirror" with a "cold mirror" (these are the filters that sit right in front of your sensor). This means that the camera will not record any visible light, but only infrared light. I have been playing around with it some time now and I really find it fascinating to capture stuff that our eyes don't see.

I have no idea if this should be posted in landscape to be honest. I guess so, because this is a photo like any other photo, the only difference being that it is false colored since we don't see infrared. But I'll leave that up to the moderators to decide, so feel free to move it to the right place in that case!

Hölick nature reserve, Sweden. f/14, 1/15, ISO 100.

C&C of course welcome, large version is included.

I can't quite figure out if this image is primarily mid-tone contrast? I'm wanting more contrast though. It may also need more sat to play the alternative style to its maximum effect. The centered tree tends to hold the viewer back from moving forward through the scene.

This is interesting because the colors seem pretty close to what a visible image from the same location would look like. I like how the main tree angles across the frame but wish for more separation between it and the trees behind to emphasize that shape even more.

An interesting scene Roel and I like the shape of the tree you captured. I agree with Bob it might be nice with more contrast to bring out the whites more. I'm not familiar with IR so I'm not sure. Nice job though.

The infrared makes for an interesting look! I'm on the same page as Mark - I wish there was more separation between the foreground and background trees. Not sure if increasing the contrast will do this or not.
