Howard, Excellent capture of this scrub jay. The twigs and shadows covering the jay detract in a minor way, but otherwise a great pose. Dave

I like imageslike this that show a little habitat. It makes the image less "sterile". Cool background.

Howard, you've captured another very nice avian image here with this one. Capturing a pose with this much clarity is no easy task.....well seen and captured.

Very nice! The overlying shadows don't bother me at all, just makes it real. Ron

I like the subtle habitat here and the rich blues with fine detail. Would like for a smoother background - probably hurt a bit by using the 2X kenko

Hi Luke and thank you!
In the years I've used the Kenko 2x, I've not had issue with the bokeh it produces.
This branch is rather low to the ground, so the brush/grass patterns are more apparent here due to their proximity.. And the chosen F stop of course.

Wonderful pose and look from this Jay as the head is sticking out in the right place between the branches. The larger image looks fine to me with some complimentary background colors, way to go.
