This is another of the crazy critters you might find north of Lake Meade. They don't eat much and they're pretty slow, but they may haunt you in your sleep. The hard part about shooting these formations is isolating them. The other hard part is waiting for some drama in the sky. It's a pretty good haul out to them and conditions have been good one out of 5 times for me. It's a fun trip rain or shine, there is always something new to discover.

Unique forms, and very dramatic sky. In the BW, it appears a little too busy for me. The "monster" gets a bit lost in the detailed FG (especially). The light part of the sky is in just the right place.. The color version might actually simplify by separating the forms from the sky. Other-wordly feel to the image made it stand out for me. Nice job :toast:

The "Other worldly" comments say it all, and I agree completely..

Wow, this is wild! I'm enjoying how hard it is to tell land from sky with crazy lines and shapes in both. Yes a color version would be interesting, but then the separation between land and sky would likely be easy.

Your pp really accentuates the lines and textures in the features as well as add a lot of drama. Cool!

Very cool image Gary, perfect for a B&W conversion. I love the textures and shapes in the rocks and the variation in the clouds. My cup of tea for sure!

Fantastic! This is very other worldly, Gary. I love the range of tones and the shapes along with that mood dripping sky. Great eye to spot that formation BTW. Excellent work.

Very cool. Wonder what it would look like with a shade less contrast.
