We had some light snowfall last night, so I took advantage.
The Red-bellied Woodpecker came in close & posed rather nicely for me

Overcast conditions.

The woodpecker is exposed very well giving the light issues with the snowy background-- wishing there was not the oof perch between me and the bird --

Good catch, Howard. Even light on the bird, good detail and well composed. The OOF portion of the stump is not an issue to me. :toast:

Gorgeous image, Howard. The Woodpecker perched perfectly on that old half-barrel. Great job on the exposure and the partial snow makes a gorgeous bg.

I like the bg and excellent details on the wp. Hollowed log makes a real nice perch. If you have some more room at the bottom for the "virtual" tail, that would be nice, but an excellent view of this fellow. Sharon

Wonderful detail in the larger image and interesting to see that you had snow. Nice job in getting this, well done Howard.

nice, Howard. I guess you probably don't see much snow down there! I like the comp and details, as well as the setting--the oof portion in front isn't an issue for me, though I agree that a bit more room for the virtual tail would be nice.

A lovely shot, Howard. I like the overall high key quality of the shot, and I'm not usually a fan of high key work.
