Lift Off

D800 200-400mm @ 220mm F8 1/2000 ISO 560 Handheld

An immature redtail hawk, I think, I'm not too sure on hawks ID, but I sure did like the lift off position. Got this yesterday at Anahuac NWR in Texas. Quite often see them on the fenceposts but I never seem to be quick enough to get the take off shot, until this one.

Great catch, Bob. Beautiful extension on the hawk and a tack sharp capture.

Nice timing...really shows off the power of the leg and breast/wing muscles. Sharon

Nice timing to get this take off pose. The larger image is very sharp with nice feather detail, well done.

Great full extension - you don't see photos like this of Red-tails too often. You really got the right moment and that was due to having the proper settings. Congrats on the image

Nice take-off shot. I like the wing position and the good look at the eye and the raised head. Also very nice light. :toast:
