This is the entire "pride" who were running away from the two new Males in the area, the 4 sub-adults are around 1 year old, mum is on the right, she would never look our way preferring to look out for the Males.
Taken on a very dull and overcast day in Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe
EOS 1D MkIV
200-400 mm F4 at 200mm
F 6.3
ISO 800

Wonderful shot to get all on them in focus. I like how 5 of the 6 are turned one way which gives a sense they are interested in something but the other is looking the other way like a lookout. Nice job in getting this shot Ken, well done.

Hi Ken,

Pretty amazing sight - must have been quite the experience. Can't say that the lions look too worried about the males they're running from!

Techs look good on this one. If this were mine I'd probably consider removing a bit of foreground, effectively lowering the lions in the frame. But if aspect ratio was kept the same (and I doubt going "narrower" would work) guessing that might show too much of the bright sky.

Cheers...

Jim and Jagdeep,
Thanks for your comments, much appreciated :toast:
Brad,
I agree with your comments and conclusions regarding the aspect ratio, more blue sky did not look to good. :toast:

Hello Ken

A sweet capture with the family at rest. All look quite healthy and content even though the males could be a problem.

Too bad not getting the one head turn but still a very worthwhile image.

thanks for sharing
