Pretty cool hike huh? You've done a great job with this high contrast scene. The amount of shadow detail is good. I might even go a hair darker on the shadows based on how the deep shadows on the far left side aren't quite black as compared to the frame. If I saw this on only a white background, I don't think I would have noticed that. Another thing worth mentioning, it looks like the highlight recovery was cranked up a bit too high on the sky. The clouds go a little bit grayish. I'd say go a bit brighter with your exposure for the sunlit areas, and maybe just a hair darker for the exposure you used for the shadow regions.

An epic vista Cindy. The comp of the canyon leading diagonally across the image is very nice, as is the splash of sunlight filling the canyon floor. The fall color below is also a nice touch. On my monitor, the brightest clouds have lost detail and distract the eye a little.

The whites are a bit hot,
nice comp which leads me out of the canyon.
I would lighten the shadows a tad.

Wow, that's an impressive view. I think you did a great job handling the shadows, but it would be interesting to see what this looks like with Ben's suggestions. (I think you could selectively brighten parts of the sky a touch without losing any more detail in the brightest spot.)

Never been to Zion. Lots of strange land formations; some of them look like man-made trails or even roads.

P.S. You might want to fix the typo in the title.

Great job on this Cindy. Coming out of refrigerator canyon presents some tough light situations. I think you handled them pretty well. You've certainly captured the grandeur of Zion. :toast:

Very nice comp and light on the valley floor Cindy. The blown out clouds distract a bit but a very nice image as is. I think Ben had some good ideas also. Very nice.

Very nice image that captures the magic and imensity of this canyon. Others have mentioned the minor nits.
I really like this as presented. Thanks for posting, and for bringing back memories
