February's Chill

I took this just a few days ago at Castlewood Canyon just a few miles south of me. It's not clearly defined, but there was a sun pillar just before dawn.

Great winter conditions all over the state last week and in the mountains this weekend. Tons of snow, and everyone should come skiing. Lots of avalanche danger though, so stay inbounds!
We went all of last week with never seeing 30 or above. Finally Friday and Saturday we saw 40's, but today is bringing more snow and 30 for a high. Might have to get back out in the morning. :jump:

C&C always welcome, and thanks for looking,

Large version included,

Morris

The larger version is nice . The comp really does it for me, I can look this for a while and discover all the detail and little scenes.

Nice perspective on this little canyon, Morris. The chilly blues are are appropriate for the wintry feel. I grew up in southern, Colorado and little canyons were very special to us. We always went to the "cedars" for our family picnics so this image has special feeling for me. Well done!! Chet (glad you are getting good snowfall)

This looks pretty cold, Morris. I like the comp and the small patch of warm tones above the horizon in the sky.

Very nice, Morris. Love the blue tones and it's good to see some snowfall and moisture int the mountains.

I can't honestly say I've ever seen a sun pillar; I've been on the lookout for them ever since reading Stan's book on weather. Pretty cool, even if only a little shows under the clouds.

Nice comp Morris, this does have a very cold feeling to it that is very appealing.

Nice comp Morris! Even though there is a lot to see in this scene, my eye is drawn directly to the tree on the left and the snowed river.

Sure does look cold, especially with the blue tones. It also looks like it would be a fun hike on snowshoes.
