A familiar scene from Cannon beach. Comments much appreciated. Chet

A familiar scene, but captured well IMO because of the comp which shows nice wave action on the beach and rocks in the FG. The sky is nice, but not exciting; I think the comp might work a little better if you cropped off about half of the sky above the rocks. Excellent choice for shutter speed. (Tech info would be nice, for those of us who rarely get to the seashore.)

At first glance, there is nothing exciting about the light. But studying your comp, i quite like the wave on the bottom right forming a line with the foreground rocks and circles to the bigger sea stacks. If tide schedule matches, I would come back in the morning and try a similar comp. I may be visiting Cannon beach again this weekend!
For this image, I would select the bright spot in the upper section and add a multiply layer, it will tone down the highlight and bring detail to your cloud.

Nice scene. You captured the moving water well and I like the structure of the moving waves in the water. The sky is a bit boring for me and also washed out a bit. You might indeed consider cropping the sky as also suggested by Wayne. Alternatively you may try to cut back the lights in the sky a bit.

Thanks for the helpful suggestions. I tried the crop and darkening the sky but ended up with halos. More work needed.

I like the mid day light as it reveals a lot not seen in the early or late images. I like Wayne's crops suggestion, too. Well done.

Nice shot of the "Needles" Chet. The repost looks much better to me with more detail in the sea stacks and less of the sky.

Nice shot here... I think i might recover some of the highlights but thats pretty much it. I would go back to the raw if possible before trying anything in PS

I really like the swirl in the wave action up front and the V of the rocks. The larger version shows off the water in the mid-ground better. I think that increasing the contrast in the sky and burning in the upper right section will add to the attractiveness of this scene.

I prefer the repost too Chet. I really like the scene and wave action, but it's hard to capture the full effect without better lighting.
