Well I guess it's really not Gibraltar, but I think that's what the locals call it. This is another shot from the Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada. It's busy but the sky and leading lines really made this for me.

Forboding for sure. I like the lines originating from the llc. I could see a slight crop off the top to make this less centered.

I've been enjoying all of your B&Ws. Very intense. I agree about the top crop.

Your conversion really brings out the lines throughout this. And, it makes for a lot of drama. Very well done!

What's the prediction on when it falls over, Gary? This works wonderfully in b&w with the vertical strips in the foreground contrasted with the horizontals in the sky...and then there's that leaning rock for a bit more shape contrast.

Very nice, very dramatic image from VoF, Gary. I agree with your assessment of sky and leading lines making the image. A lot going on but I wouldn't call it busy. VoF has provided a good harvest for you. More coming I hope. Chet

I find my eye being drawn too much to the dark sky. Cropping the darkest part of the sky makes, for me, a more dramatic scene as then the leading lines really draw me to Gibraltar. Very nice black and white treatment.

I like this a lot. You got great conditions and rather nicely took advantage of them. The B&W conversion works really well, too.

This has a pervasive dark mood I like, dramatic looking sky.
Great comp and I agree, the leading lines tie it all together nicely Gary :toast:

I think the sky is too prominent here for me, Gary.
The lines in the rock and the rock formation should be the star.
Maybe just lightening the clouds would do it for me.

You gotta love the drama in those clouds along with all those leading lines in this landscape. Spectacular image, Gary.

Wow, you got that right, Gary! Those lines in the FG rocks, and then the clouds really make this an exciting scene. Great job on the composition and the conversion to take advantage of all this.

Wow; almost makes me dizzy! Lots of amazing lines. I'd also reduce the contrast in the sky; I think that would let the foreground really star.

Wow, this image has a lot of power to it. The lines are nice, all in all.

I agree with the comment about the sky and land competing for attention. One element needs to be the subject, and backing off on the sky would help. Doing this would also facilitate a different crop.

Very dramatic scene Gary and wonderful lines and textures in the fore ground. Also a very dramatic sky. Maybe a bit dark in the sky but very nice as is. Great processing on this also. Great job.

I think this is a goregous B & W, Gary. And I'm very much liking how Gibraltar Rock itself has a real "presence" in the image. As far as the cropping, I think it's great as is, but if you did decide to do a crop - well, I'd favor cropping to about the foreground's halfway mark to emphasize the sky and to have a look with the subject placed low in the frame. It's just my opion, though.
