Another 15 inches of snow here today brought 100's of birds to the feeders. I thought this chickadee portrayed the Noreaster kind of day we've had. (And another 6" expected tonight!) We are getting snow thunder and lightening now!

50D, 700mm, ISO 400, F13, 1/125 LARGER version also posted. Thanks to all for your comments and critiques...I learn from them all! Sharon

Please send some of your snow out west!! We'd love to have it here in New Mexico. Nice capture with the snow falling to convey the moment.

Very moody, and very nice! I love monochrome color images.

Black-capped, or Carolina? Bucks County is very close to the range split between the two.

Thanks, Keith and Richard! Keith...I would love to send you some snow...we have had more than our share! Richard...I believe this is a Carolina version...I was taught to look for the white hockey stick that borders the outer primaries, and this one is definitely lacking that. You are correct...I live only a few miles north of that imaginary dividing line for Carolinas and Black-capped. I also understand that there can be hybrids of the two. The call is different, too. I really would have to bow to you, though, for a proper id.

Like overall color and the snow texture -- ifit were mine I Might be tempted to take out the large snow flake just below the feet

Love the snow flying all about, & on the bird Sharon.
Great POV, pose, details, and framing too.
I might suggest a very slight adjustment to contrast/brightness to make this even better.
Well done!:toast:

Brrrrr! Nice job capturing the ugly conditions, Sharon. Chickadees are amazing for their ability to thrive in this stuff. I hat to disagree with Howard, but I like the low contrast and low brightness of this image. It wouldn't look real if it were more contrasty.
