Morning on the River

Another chilly morning in the panhandle, about 4 below. , but the light was nice and the snow was still nice and fresh. This is a side channel of the North Platte. What a beautiful morning. Almost no wind, a Bald Eagle soaring overhead and Turkeys talking to each other and occasionaly flying out of the trees, along with some Magpies to add some variety. Some people think I am crazy, but mornings like this I hate to come in. The sun has just come up and the light was nice. Thanks for you comments and critiques.

Canon 7d
Sigma 10-20
Manual
Shutter 1/10
Aperture f16
ISO 100

Tripod and shutter release
Cropped just a little from the top and bottom
Slight contrast and color adjustment in Lightroom 4

I certainly had to smile when you described why you like these early morning photo sessions. There is something just downright satisfying about being out in this kind of morning and usually all by yourself to enjoy. I can feel the cold but that warm sunrise belies the temp and does signal warmer temps to come as the sun gets up.

Just a very pleasing winter shot that feels cold yet appears warm. Beautiful soft and natural light

Certainly looks like a beautiful morning (but I don't know if I could handle the 4 below for very long!). The addition of the eagle and turkeys to the story might make it easier to be out there in that kind of cold though.

Nicely done! The line of tall trees on the right makes for a nice line leading towards the brighter area of sky, and the reflection is a great bonus.

That's a fine comp, and the golden glow gives hope for a warmer day. Beautiful image.

Nice image Richard. I really like the golden tones here. 4 below is really cold! Sounds like you had a great day out there.

I just love those reflections Richard. Do you have more zoomed in to cut out the foreground? Regardless, very cool! (Pun intended  )
