Approaching Sunset

One evening while at Lake Palourde, I snapped this shot with my Canon EOS 7D right before sunset. I used a Canon EF-S 18-200 mm lens. My ISO was set at 2000 with a shutter speed of 1/2,000 and an aperture of f/14. I tweaked the highlight in editing with the Aperture software. I also added a polarizing filter.

Wow, Zeralda, this is a wonderful shot. A large view would be nice. It appears there is a lot of noise in both sky and reflection. I wondering why such a high iso and fast shutter speed? Was this hand held?

Thanks Gary! Yes it was hand held, but I hadn't realized my iso was so high and was using the meter in the camera to guide me..I was on a time crunch as I had to be somewhere else and wasn't paying attention. I didn't think anything was going to come out and was pleasantly surprised when this one came out as well as it did…considering…my hope is to return when i have more time and do it proper justice.

Welcome to the landscape gallery Zeralda and a very nice first post. Really nice composition and colors and the birds add a lot to the scene. If this were mine I would clone out the bright spots in the water as they pull my eye away from the main subject. But a nice scene as is.

Hi Zeralda - Love the comp. I might be tempted to brighten it a bit but that is a personal preference. I will be needing to move this this to the M&N gallery due to the presence of the buoys. Hope you understand the need for me to move this due to the hand of man elements.

No problem Eva. Please forgive my blunder. I just started getting involved with this site this week. I'm still learning and figuring my way around. I hadn't even thought about the buoys. Thanks for pointing that out. Hope not to make the mistake again.

Love the comp and birds decorating the cypress. The tech issues have already been discussed.

BTW,,,,are you a local or were you just passing through Morgan City?
